Jamaica tenant wants title to landlords place

QUESTION: Dear Legal Wiz,
Hi Legal wiz. I live in Jamaica at a house in Stony Hill for 13 years. I am still paying rent to a lady who says she owns the place. I notice that shes sickly lately and I am thinking about doing adverse possession. I heard that once you live somewhere for 12 years you can do an application for the title by adverse possession. Can you help me because the landlord gave me a notice to quit.
Tonya Barrett

RESPONSE: Dear Tonya
There is no way a tenant in your position can apply for title to the place you live at. To even think it is bizarre. You should really try to find somewhere before you are dragged into court and thrown out by a court bailiff. No joke!
