QUESTION: Dear Legal Wiz,
I saw one of your articles on Jamaicans.com. Our dad died while my sister and I were in school over seven years ago. He was a soldier and he died in his thirties leaving his own mother and us. There is not much money that he left. Its not even $500,000.00 but we got a letter that we need to get an order from the court before we can get it. It’s all we have.

RESPONSE: Dear Dale
The order you need is a Grant of letters of administration if your dad didnt leave a will. If he left a will you will need to get a Grant of Probate. This is costly. The legal Aid lawyers wont assist so you need to find an attorney or an expert document provider who can assist in this. Then you will have to do all the leg work yourself. You can contact us for assistance if there is no one.
