‘Painter of Light’ Thomas Kinkade, America’s most collected artist and a devout Christian to the time of his death died on Good Friday.
Jamaicans are among the over 10 million homes decked with the works of California artist Thomas Kinkade ‘Painter of light’ will be affected by his passing away at 54 years old.

While alive, the artist spoke on his technical skills and the medieval practice of using light to symbolize the divine.
He once told the San Jose Mercury News “I’m a warrior for light… With whatever talent and resources I have, I’m trying to bring light to penetrate the darkness many people feel.”
A devout Christian, Kinkade was a ‘Painter of Light’ – his paintings depicted images from bible passages, tranquil scenes with idyllic lush landscaping with nearby running streams.
The art establishment maligned Kinkade’s sentimental paintings, with their scenes of cottages, country gardens and churches in dewy morning light, which were beloved by middlebrow America.
The works of Kinkade, including his spin-off products such as postcards. totaled US$100 million in sales, and he claimed to be the most collected living US artist.
