Floral tribute for Jamaica’s first PM Sir Bustamante in 137th year

The Jamaica Cultural Development Commission (JCDC), an agency of the Ministry Culture, Gender, Entertainment and Sport has organized Floral Tributes in Kingston and in Blenheim Hanover, to commemorate the 137TH Anniversary of the birth of the Right Excellent, Sir Alexander Bustamante, Jamaica’s first Prime Minister. The Minister of Culture, Gender, Entertainmentand Sport the Hon. Olivia Grange, DC, MP, will be leading the execution of both events. Floral Tribute National Heroes Park, National Heroes Circle, 9:00 a.m. Floral Tribute Blenheim, Hanover, 11: 00 a.m.

A number of national leaders are expected to be in attendance. Those laying9oral tributes in Kingston include: His Excellency the Most Honourable Sir Patrick Allen, ON, GCMG, CD, K St.J, Governor-General; the Honourable Dr. Horace Chang, CD, MP, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of National Security representing the Most Honourable Andrew Holness, ON, MP, PrimeMinister; George Anthony Hylton, CD, MP, representing Mr. Mark Golding, MP,Leader of the Opposition; His Worship the Mayor Senator Councillor, Delory Williams, Mayor of Kingston; the Most Honourable Robert Montague, MP, Minister of Transport and Mining and Chairman, Jamaica Labour Party; Senator Kavan Gayle CD, President, Bustamante Industrial Trade Union; His Excellency Carlos Alberto Michaelsen den Hartog, Dean of the Diplomatic Corps; Retired Major Sangster Barnes, god-daughter of Sir Alexander Bustamante; Ryan Strachan, President, Generation 2000 (G2K) and Rohan Walsh, President, Young Jamaica (YJ).

The Floral Tribute in Blenheim will be attended by a number of dignitaries. Wreaths will be laid by Hon Dr. David Stair, CD, JP Custos of Hanover; Miss Tamika Davis, Member of Parliament, Western Hanover; Mr. Collin Virgo, Assistant General Secretary, Bustamante Industrial Trade Union BITU;Cllr.
