This will take place at the Bookophilia book store at 6:00 pm with Wine provided by Caribbean Producers Limited and Calabash reminiscing by Justine Henzell.
What does it mean?
Jakoostik is “Jamaican Acoustic Music” and consists of three guitarists, Wayne Armond, Seretse Small and Donald Waugh playing nine classic Jamaican in all manner of musical styles from Country & Western, Jazz, Reggae and even Rennaisance Classical guitar stylings. These guys had fun recording this music!
The album was recorded at the Harry J’s Studio on Roosevelt Avenue and was engineered by Stephen Stewart. The tracks were recorded in “One take”. No fixing of mistakes allowed to ensure that the recorded captured the musical moments as purely as possible.
Acoustic Passion
So when you listen to the album you are listening to the immediate and passionate music making chemistry of the three guitarists in the room. The guitars and voices were recorded at the same time requiring the three guitarists to be seamless in their execution and ot focus on emotional impact of the arrangments rather than pitch note perfection.
The Launch seeks to take patrons into that experience of spontaneous music making and the power of our classic Jamaican catalog while you enjoy wines from Caribbean Producers Limited and the ambiance and company of Bookophilia and Bookophilliacs.
