Today, Monday, October 4, 2010 we are excited to invite you to the long-awaited album release party for reggae’s conscience vocalist, Duane Stephenson.
Duane Stephenson is one of today’s leading musicians who hone the roots and reggae musical scene with his heartfelt lyrics and sincere vocals. After the success of a stunning debut album “From August Town” in 2008 and a series of memorable stage performances on international tours with legendary Dean Fraser, Duane Stephenson is ready to release a new set of chants in his much anticipated sophomore album “Black Gold”. The 14-track recording embraces Stephenson growth mentally, emotionally and musically. The title “Black Gold was chosen because “it is a representation of self worth as a black person and by extension Africa, ” Stephenson explains. Combining a mixer of musical influences and well crafted melodies, Stephenson is set to perform songs from “Black Gold” like the newly released “Rescue Me” featuring the soulful Gramps Morgan, “Nah Play”, “Cycle Goes On” and When We Rise” featuring Ras Shiloh to name a few. Duane Stephenson will be hitting the stage to deliver a performance that is sure to entertain and enlighten the crowd.
Freddie Ricks has been featured on both the big and little screen in movies and shows like Shaft, Def Comedy Jam, Comicview, and many more. He’s been on stages from NY to LA, and everywhere in-between, and he’s once again returning to the SOB’s stage to deliver some comedic relief. Freddie Ricks will be bringing to the stage two comedians whose standup-presence leaves the crowd begging more. Known as the “killer comedian”, Kenny Williams goal is to make you laugh till it hurts. William credits include Apollo Comedy Hour, Skits for Hot 97 Morning Show with Fatman Scoop and Miss Jones and appearances on Wyclef and LL Cool J albums. Look out for popular skits like “Only here for an hour”, “Peanuts and Popcorn” and The Super Thug”. If you are looking for a LOL fest, Clipper Man is your funnyman! Known for his impersonations of Ray Charles, Sylvester Stallone, DMX and Jim Carey, Clipper Man is your driven force for comedic entertainment. Detroit native has performed along side Arnez J, Katt Williams, Mike Bonner and more.
