I’m gonna miss Elizabeth Taylor, not because she has my mom’s name, well at least since she got married, but for the additions she somehow made to my life. If I ever became a fanATIC – yes she would have been one on the list I’d become a ‘tic’ for.
So I like most warm-blooded and dare I say romantic Jamaicans did appreciate Elizabeth Taylor, although we were drawn more to her personality we knew on film. Nonethelss she was beautiful to look at, charming to observe.
No funny feelings towards my admiration – she just had stunning features, physically and otherwise. You could have changed the colour of your skin to black like midnight, or white as snow, or yellow like a banana peel, and you would still be stunning.
Her acting skills were superb and inspirational.
No, let’s not count the ways, days, or strips.
Simply that Elizabeth Taylor, good, bad and indifferent you were loved. Your acting came across very real, so real I knew Jamaicans who changed their personalities simply because they wanted to be as impacting and convincing as the charm you were.
You were exemplary.
