What Columbus?!

History vs Ourstory
(what columbus?)

Sitting on hard stools in babylon schools
If we learn all they taught we’d all be darn fools
Like humpy dumpy, the cat and the fiddle
The cow jump over moon
Is pure Annancy stories and riddles

Like Columbus come down ya’ rob, rape and murder
And all they can teach is how much him discover
Slaughtered Caribs and Arawaks while stealing their rations
Then sailing the high seas in real high-class fashion

Check; Henry Morgan, a pirate, why treat him as hero?
What he has done for us, is a mite less than zero
A seafearing man, But what is his story?
Murderer, thief and rapist, what makes him fond history?

Why teach the horrors and fables of his-story
When we can live the joy and splender of our own story

What about the crippled apartheid
The death of segregation
Our own controlled destiny
And massive re-generation
Equality, a definite must
No more compulsory riding at the back of the bus
Those are the basis of OUR STORY

Sing the praises of our achievements in sports
That is aired all about
Our Athletes seeming eccentric
Medalling in every olympic
The upliftment of reggae music
Use it, dont lose it and please dont refuse it…
Those are the basis of OUR-STORY
So, what will it be; His-story or Our-story?
