Interested persons are encouraged to submit their entries online atwww.jcdc.gov.jm/online-formsor at any of the 13 Jamaica Cultural Development Commission’s (JCDC) parish offices.The2023 winners will receive over one million in cash and prizes, the opportunity to headline some of Jamaica’s Emancipation and Independence festivities as well as bragging rights for being winners duringJCDC’s 60th Anniversary.
Marjorie Leyden-Kirton, Acting Executive Director at the JCDC described the competitions as “innovative platforms for persons seeking to develop their talents and take their careers to new heights.” She said,“JCDC’s competitions promote the holistic development of participants. I have heard countless testimonies from persons whose lives have been totally transformed through the exposure and mentorship they received from industry experts.”
The 2021 Jamaica Festival Song winner, Stacey ‘Stacious’ Scarlett-Bryan endorsed Mrs. Leyden-Kirton’s sentiments. She shared, “Winning the competition was a good feeling…Being a part of a competition that I grew up watching was gratifying enough for me, the prize money was the icing on the cake.”
“When I was on stage holding the three million dollar cheque. I was excited for my team because we went out on a limb for this and it actually happened… If you are considering entering the competitions, I say give it your best shot! You have nothing to lose, think outside the box.”
