Hailing from the shores of Jamaica, this reggae artist is no “Newbie”. Iy Jon whose real name is Jonathan Ford has been singing the sweet tunes of Culture & Lovers Rock reggae for the past 40 years. Born & raised in Morant Bay, St. Thomas he was surrounded by the culture & birth place of reggae music.
As a youth growing up he would rock away to the hits of the late & great Bob Marley, Peter Tosh, & Gregory Isaac, just to name a few. An inspired lover for music he started playing the bass guitar in 1985, creating his own unique sound. Soon after Iy Jon joined Lion Force Band which took him on the road for six years touring & putting on local shows in both Jamaica and the United States.
Mastering the bass guitar & establishing himself as an artist he caught the attention of singers Leroy Sibble, Trevor Sparks, Richie Steppa, Shabba Ranks & Sister Carol. With that said, he got the privilege to open for Sanchez, Shabba Ranks & Sister Carol. Another well know artist Denroy Morgan from the hit group Morgan Heritage took him under his wing as a backup singer.
Iy Jon collaborated with Barry O’hare & Kall Wright to help mix & produce his solo album called “World Song” featuring songs like Back up, Reminiscing, King high way, and Dreaming. Music Video link http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K11EJPPtmLM
