On July 8, 2012, in a “Feast of Sound and Flavour”, Rhythm and Blues (R&B) meets Reggae. The event is a rich brew of R&B music fused with Reggae, and a unique celebration of Music and Cooking from the Tropical Island of Jamaica, blended with those of the rural and urban city experience in the United States. This will take place at the Miramar Regional Park, 16801 Miramar Pkwy Florida (One Mile West 175).
A day of “Cultural Fusion “which will feature live performances from music sensations Jeffrey Osborne and Millie Jackson. Jeffrey Osborne began his professional career in 1969 with a popular funk and soul group called “Love Men Ltd”. After 10 years with the band, Osborne decided to pursue a solo career, where he had hits such as “Don’t You Get So Mad”, “Stay with Me Tonight” and “Love Power” which he had performed with Dionne Warwick. Osborne’s solo career has brought him a lot of accomplishments along with five gold and platinum albums, including “Stay with me tonight” and “Only Human”. In 1982, he recorded an album of duets with James Ingram and scored the international hit “On the Wings of Love”. Osborne recently made a guest appearance on “The Bachelor” and performed “On the Wings of Love” for the shows season finale.
This event will also feature R&B sensation Millie Jackson. Jackson is more than an entertainment legend, she is deemed as an industry Icon by her peers, as she has paved the way for many of today’s female artistes. Jackson is the epitome of performance perfection on stage. Her first record release “A Child of God” set the tone for many hits to come such as “Act of God” in 1985, with pop recording artiste Elton John. After a hiatus from recording music, Jackson released her 2002 album “Not for Church Folk”. This album marked her return with singles like “Butt-A-Cize” and “Leave Me Alone”.
Both Osborne and Jackson will be joined by acts such as Dorothy Moore, R & B’s new sensation J.R Evan and Jamaican acts such as Singing Melody with his smooth, silky melodious voice, Ken Booth that has been doing rock steady music from the 70s, Nadine Sutherland and also Kashief Lindo.
