Yesterday, Wednesday, April 28, 2010, Third World Band was slated to arrive on another caribbean island, as part of their 35th anniversary celebration tour, this time to perform at the “Sunset From The Heights” concert in Antigua and Barbuda. The concert, which will take place on Thursday, April 29, 2010, is one of the many activities planned for the 43rd Annual Sailing Week.
No strangers to the island, the Band has performed in Antigua over the years, residents and visitors alike are gearing up to see the 6 member band. In an article published in the Antigua Observer, Paddy Prendergast, Chairman of land-based activities for Sailing Week states, “There will obviously be the usual, fantastic Shirley Heights barbecue and chill out and listen to the sounds and give a great welcome to Third World. Third World is absolutely one of the foremost reggae and roots bands, from the Caribbean, in the world. Sailing Week is absolutely delighted that we’ve managed to bring an international act in, for the first time in a long while.”
As Third World Band look forward to their performance in Antigua, the band is also gearing up for their live stream in Miami, Florida. The informal online only rehearsal will be streamed live on www.ination.tv/thirdworldbandlive and www.thirdworld.com on Saturday, May 8, 2010 at 7:00 p.m. EST for Caribbean and U.S. audiences, and re-broadcast May 9, 2010 at 1:00 a.m. EST for audiences in Europe and Africa. The live stream is part of the band’s 35th anniversary celebration which will allow approximately 1.2 million viewers globally to be part of this unique experience.
The live-streamed broadcast will feature the worldwide premiere of the video for their new single, “The Spirit Lives,” a dedication to the people of Haiti and a preview of the making of the video for single “By My Side,” featuring Tessanne Chin. Fans will also get a behind the scenes look at the band’s rehearsal, receive information of their upcoming performances and more. As an added bonus, the band members will interact with fans via special chat rooms. Additionally, fans will be able to enter to win an all expense paid trip to Third World’s December 27, 2010 concert in Kingston, Jamaica.
The band has extended an offer to those who would like to take advantage of increasing their brand’s visibility through promotional efforts by creating sponsorship opportunities, in-kind contributions and/or donations, in exchange for: event T-shirts, printing materials, banners and meals for musicians.
