JCDC sends last call for 2023 contests



Last call for prospective entrants to submit their entries in the Jamaica Festival Song, the Miss Jamaica Festival Queen, and Jamaica Gospel Star C

Competitions before the scheduled deadline for this Friday, April 14, 2023, at midnight via the online platform at www.jcdc.gov.jm.

The entry fee for the Jamaica Festival Song competition is $1,000.00 whilst the Miss Jamaica Festival Queen and Jamaica Gospel StarCompetitions are entry free. The prospective entrants for Jamaica Festival Song are required to upload the audio of their song and the lyric sheet meanwhile Gospel Starentrants are required to upload their unedited video performance to complete the application for both competitions.

Acting Executive Director at the Jamaica Cultural Development Commission (JCDC), Marjorie Leyden-Kirton encourages persons who are interested in entering any of the JCDC’s 2023 competitions to do so on the organization’s website at www.jcdc.gov.jm. The JCDC encourages all prospective entrants to submit the highest quality entries to compete with the best in the entertainment industry.

“You have spoken and we have listened; the closing date extension has been granted. We have given you more time to prepare the highest standard and quality, especially the Jamaica Festival Song which is a semi-professional professional competition,” said Leyden-Kirton.
“We are hopeful that persons have taken advantage of the 14 extra days that were granted to submit their entries for this year’s competitions, which will commemorate Jamaica’s 61st Independence anniversary and JCDC’s 60th anniversary. Persons are allowed and encouraged to enter our competitions as applicable to their talents before the closing date,” said Leyden-Kirton.

These premier programmes have provided a platform for many of our talented Jamaicans to develop their talent and contribute to national development. The 2023 cycle for entrants will be a part of history that seeks to uplift the country,” said Leyden-Kirton.
The Jamaica Festival Song, Miss Jamaica Festival Queen, and the Jamaica Gospel Star Competitions are signature programmes of the JCDC and form a part of the independence celebrations that serve to unearth and showcase the creative talents of Jamaicans.
