SCIENTIFIC NAME for Carry-me-seed; Quinine Weed.: (Phyllanthus Niruri)
The Carry-me-seed; Quinine Weed plant is commonly used for fevers, and genito-urinary infections in Jamaica. Combined with milk weed, it is taken for gonorrhoea.
The root and leaves have been boiled together and consumed as a cure for dysentery, diabetes. jaundice, stomachache, as a diuretic, and in dropsical complaints.
ADDED NOTE: The bark contains a crystalline bitter principle and the leaves are rich in potassium salt.
