New York, NY (March 28, 2014): Root, Heart, Soul is not the only thing that is engrained in the lyrics of British Dependency’s music. Wisdom is also at the depth and it was this very thing that prompted the Anguillan band to take up The Wailers on their invitation to join them on their East and West Coast tour.
The band wrapped the East Coast leg of the tour to return home to the, tranquility dressed in blue, isle of Anguilla before returning to the U.S. where they kicked off the West Coast run at Van Duzer Theatre at HSU in Arcata, CA. Not certain what this journey would bring, the band was pleasantly surprised at the response they got from fans. Through their social media pages, fans were already familiar with their music and the band members. Singing along to singles such as “One,” “Selah,” and “Do You This” – all of which are in rotation on Sirius XM Radio – as well as cheering on Jaiden during his drum solo was a welcome the band could not have foreseen. Bass player Joyah remarks, “I was in awe at how well they knew the songs and the participation throughout the entire set. The vibe was great and that served as encouragement for us to bring our A game every single show. It was amazing.”
As the tour made its way through California with shows in Fresno, Santa Cruz and West Hollywood, the band members proudly represented Anguilla and introduced their eclectic blend of Reggae. Their hair-raising performance for sold out crowds at House of Blues in Anaheim and Solana Beach – where their energetic set was recorded live as part of the Belly-up Concert Series – was nothing short of amazing. Then it was off to the Midwest where they performed in Park City, UT, Beaver Creek, Telluride, Englewood and Steamboat Springs, CO, Montana, Idaho and Oregon.
Documenting the band on the road was award winning photographer Russ Quackenbush and videographer Chris DeFord – whose client roster includes Microsoft, AT&T, Vitamin Water, Volkswagon, Honda, MasterCard, Timex, and Silk. Similarly, Stacy Quackenbush sat down to interview the band for her website Style Loves Adventure. A fashion stylist with celebrity, pro athlete and advertising clients, her clientele includes Adidas, Absolut, Citibank, Conde Nast, Essence Magazine, GE, Interscope Records and Johnson & Johnson. Of the band she writes, “As I watched and listened I had no idea how to define what I was experiencing. The music had a reggae foundation with an unexpected and voluminous funk influenced bass line, aggressive rock inspired guitar and extraordinary percussion. Together this three-piece ensemble creates the large and lush musical sound that is authentically British Dependency.”
British Dependency wrapped the tour with performances in the heart of Hollywood at Club King King on Hollywood Blvd. Widely attended, the band performed for fans and celebrities such as Grammy Award winning producer Wayne Jobson and Actor/Director Michael Jai White. Victor E. Lewis remarks, “This was a great way to wrap the tour. The response has been great and we are looking forward to what’s to come. Right now we are looking at summer performances in Europe, Canada and confirmed dates in May in New York, New Jersey, Maryland, Ohio, New Hampshire, Virginia and Connecticut. Overall, the band is putting in the work and reaping the rewards with much support from Anguilla Tourist Board and Sirius XM, among others.”
