A high success rate for the treatment of infertility problems here in Jamaica, and growing demand from foreigners for fertility treatment on The island, have prompted a $700-million expansion of the Hugh Wynter Fertility Management Unit (HWFMU) at the University Hospital of the West Indies.
The expansion project is scheduled to be completed by September of this year and will boast two new state-of-the-art operating theatres, a world-class assisted conception laboratory and a facility where women can have their eggs frozen to be used at a later date — a procedure that is well established in First-World countries.
