Gregory Issacs will long be remembered as the first Jamaican singer to openly confessing about his use of coke.
Former Gleaner staffer Michael Conally and current writer Chris Sirju were the interviewers at the time when Gregory spok of his use, and his desire to see young persons steered towards more positive happenings.
The legend’s Night Nurse, a song rumoured to be about coke, will yet be sung for years to come as its lyrics are relevant to relationships. With Night Nurse produced in 1982, Isaacs garnered widest international acclaim.
Milo Miles, described Isaacs as “the most exquisite vocalist in reggae” in the New York Times. Dead at age 59, he was a highly prolific singer, songwriter and producer during his music care spanning over 4 decades.
