DEAR LEGAL WIZ,
Hi my name is Sasha and I would like to find out if my mum who has passed left a will. My brother put the house in his name only when my mother had 8 children. She also left me her acre of land that was given to her in a will from my late great aunt and she transferred it to me but, I have had nothing but brick walls when trying to get the land in my name to pay the taxes. Even though I have had the land surveyed whilst my mother was alive and she signed the transfer paper.
My brother has not been helpful at all and has decided not to talk to me about anything.
I need help.
Sasha
Dear Sasha,
The first thing you need to do is get a hold of the title, and check if it is in fact in his name, then from there you can check how he acquired it in his name.
As for the other land, the ‘brickwalls’ you speak of are not clear. did you try relying on the services of an attorney in Jamaica?
