I need a private process server, Jamaica Judge says no

DEAR LEGAL WIZ,
Good day to you. Thanks for the great work you do. I personally have a problem with the Parish Court at Sutton Street in Jamaica. The Judge has said that no private person can serve a summons. I need a private person to serve MY summons. The person whom I am serving is tricky. The court assigned bailiffs that they want us to use has not been able to serve my summons.

He comes in very late and is always changing jobs because several persons are after him for the return of their money.

Marsha Bell

Dear Marsha Bell,
Good morning. From research the Chief Judge at the Sutton Street location of the court experienced issues with a several persons who offer themselves as process servers, to serve summons for persons. Highlighted by Court Staff are reports that persons do not tun up to give evidence of service, and unreasonably high prices. Among such persons who carry out these acts which does not help the court system are individual men who hang out on the compound of Sutton Street court. The Judge’s decision broad brushes the general public and wrongfully targets who do not present anyone with problems.

As it relates to your case, consider seeking an address through the Judicial Services commission, court management or the chief parish Judge for the island of Jamaica. Your writing in has started.

  1. Is it possible that there can be transparency? I did not see anything in the main media. I also do business at other court locations and this is not what is done. Why are the courts all operating differently in Jamaica. I would love to see the law that was used to do this as this has affected me also.

  4. I am affected by the decision taken at the Sutton Street Court. I keep going to court and nothing is served yet. In the past the private process server assisted me. He tracked down the persons and made sure to talk to them and they came to court and paid me. The bailiff now seems to be giving me a run around
