Following a long absence, almost ten years, Alexander Cooper and Stafford Schliefer have joined their talent in an exhibition at the Mutual Gallery,
opening tomorrow, Thursday 31 March at 7 pm.
Alexander Cooper is well known for his love of displaying the richness and
vibrancy of Jamaican life, its people and moments in everyday life. In this
exhibition he has developed similar themes but has reduced his
realism to its components of line and form.
Stafford Schliefer continues to work on a wide range of subjects ranging from landscapes to dance traditions in his distinctive expressionistic style.
Both artists can boast of a long career in art, crowned by many exhibitions at the National Gallery of Jamaica and in private galleries locally and abroad. Their work is included in many a collection and both have been recognized with awards, especially Alexander Cooper having received the Silver Musgrave Medal Excellence in Art in 2001.
