Artists hardly ever write about themselves, but backed in a corner they will talk about their work — well some of them. Written statements are critical to the artist’s life.
Believe it:
Artist statement, personal statement, mission statement, vision statements, philosophy statement actually are great marketting tools for artists. These are partcularly handy when the artists participate in events, and must communicate to the public. WHY some of them rely on the written word to do THEIR talking.
So here are a few tips
VISION STATEMENT
The artist in the first person describes his vision from his work – a bit of how it came about, tools used and why.
MISSION STATEMENT
THe artist in the first person tells what his whole aim and determination is.
PHILOSOPHY STATEMENT
The artist in the first person shares his own beliefs, spiritual or otherwise and it’s role in his/her work
ARTIST STATEMENT
THe above pointers are incorporated for a full artist statement
PROFILE
Bits and pieces are sometimes, fewer times used as a part of the profile. The profile really gives background information, and where there is no review, extractions of reviews. Elements such as on the history of the artist i shared here and the profile is written in the third person.
