Michael Becker / FOX PHOTOGRAPHER: “The American Idol” 2012 Top 9 was revealed, and Erik Van Pelt was the latest to be eliminated. That means HeeJun Han survives another week.

How does he do it? The “American Idol” 2012 Top 9 was revealed Thursday night, and sadly Erika Van Pelt was the latest of the contestants to be eliminated.
That means that Heejun Han, the oddball singer with a decent voice, but who shows no potential of winning Season 11, will stick around for another week.
In the Bottom 3 this week: DeAndre Brackensick, Heejun Han and the rocker Erika Van Pelt, who stunned everyone on Wednesday night by sporting a new haircut and new color.
In my predictions blog today, I feared it would be a female singer who would be eliminated.
But I guessed it would be the spunky country singer Skylar Laine. I felt Erika had done enough to avoid the Bottom 3.
I’m glad for Skylar. But feel bad for Erika, who deserved a chance to stay on the show a little longer and move into the “American Idol” mansion.
The other Top 9:
• Jessica Sanchez: An early front-runner who is destined to be in the final three.
• Phillip Phillips: Who is a Dave Matthews-type singer and another early favorite.
• Hollie Cavanagh: A petite singer with a big voice.
• Joshua Ledet: A soul singer who knows how to entertain.
• Colton Dixon: A surging indie-type singer.
• Elise Testone: A raspy singer who made a big rebound and avoided the Bottom 3 this week.
What do you think? Are you happy for Heejun?
Will he make a mockery of the process?
At least Sanjaya Malakar (Season 6 of “American Idol”) was a sweet kid who just seemed to enjoy the ride.
