The streets in first world countries remain an ongoing wonder as I travel on the smooth surface. It is a far cry from the roads I am accustomed to and struggle to keep alive on in Jamaica. In my own country I contend with the road surfaces, the potholes, other drivers so arrogant and always in a rush and then the police personnel. As if.. the space on the roads are not already a headache, the sudden step down in the roads especially when the light turns green can almost give me an heart attack.
Here’s a list of suggestions towards improving our nation to making it perfect.
(Numbers 51-60)
51. Lest we forget, FOOD is vital, spiritually and physically and REALISTICALLY, keep posting a realistic list of needs for each area eg mosquito mesh tent, lots of tin foods, soap, water bottles, basins, bowls, bread, toothbrush, solar lights
52. Lest we forget, In life, when pressure breaks you, you become unstoppable, at the end is the rebuild to becoming UNSTOPPABLE. When we are down on our knees, its the rebuild. Melissa came to break you piece by piece so when God is ready, youll rebuild into a powerhouse.
53. There are persons still NOT REACHED by the aid, due to how remote they were, and now are. It’s a test of their faith and a test of our brotherly love and empathy.
54. There is need to show a national plan shared for public consumption and involvement on a meaningful level – a map or chart of affected areas, allocation of human resources, distribution of food and material, progress update on every area
55. All the billions donated, an account needs to be shared of every dime for the benefit of those who gave. Remember they can withdraw. Remember there will be other disasters.
56. Whats the plan for rebuild areas affected. Perhaps organisations can adopt-a-home.
57. SUGGESTION FROM DESMOND in UK: a campaign to lobby the government to protect our coastal towns by immediately building 30-60ft storm barrier walls before the next big one comes again.
58. It’s not just the west that was severely affected
59. Ensure proper drains are built
60. Priority NEEDED on education – wholesome education for the youth. More than academic let’s teach by example how HARDSHIPS are many, but the land is green and the sun shines as the Godfearing people of Jamaica are resilient, innovative, creative, intelligent. Realistically if there is Starlink can classes be done by Zoom, or google classroom any at all?
