Remember Black models Grace Jones, Imani



The walk of models Grace Jones, Imani are paved with messages that its not about how others making you invisible, but defining who you are and making them accept you AS YOU ARE.
Both of these adults as starving artists SAID NO to the status quo of the day, NO to the proposed remake by others. They each in their own way rewrote the script.
Dark-skinned people should proudly wear Imani cosmetics created by Iman Abdulmajid. She created cosmetics for dark skinned persons at a time white make up artists were mixing colours that resulted in a gray ashy look on models.

Jamaican model Grace Jones defied the odds and even ridiculed the ‘white’ world by putting them in fear of her. She created her own style with her angular face and made a brand out of the very image that was initially rejected in a time when Blacks weren’t the accepted option.

Hailing from Spanish Town, Jamaica Grace Jones who would be 78 today rose to fame in 1970s. Grace Jones statement ““I was Black, but not Black; woman, but not woman; American, but Jamaican; African, but science fiction.”
