Third World embraces mothers worldwide

In celebration of their 35th Anniversary Tour celebration, the reggae ambassadors have embarked on a rigorous touring schedule that will extend beyond 2010. As it stands, the band has confirmed dates that will take them to Europe, Canada, the Caribbean, the United States, Australia and New Zealand. With five months already in completion, this past mother’s day the band performed in Sebastian, West Palm Beach and hosted a live stream in Miami, Florida.

The Band performed at the Captain Hiram Resort as part of their Hiram Resort Concert Series in Sebastian, Florida. Thereafter, the group traveled to Miami, where they hosted a live rehearsal stream on Saturday, May 8, 2010. The live rehearsal was streamed on www.ination.tv/thirdworldbandlive and www.thirdworldband.com at 8:00 p.m. EST for Caribbean and U.S. audiences, and re-broadcast May 9, 2010 at 1:00 a.m. EST for audiences in Europe and Africa.

The stats showed that over 7,500 fans from the United States, UK, Canada, Europe and the Caribbean tuned in to watch the band rehearse singles such as “Committed,” “Try Jah Love,” “Reggae Party,” “Reggae Ambassador,” and more. Fans also got a bird’s eye view of the making of Third World’s video for single “By My Side,” featuring Tessanne Chin and the premiere of the video for their new single, “The Spirit Lives,” – a dedication to the people of Haiti – was also released during the live stream.

Fans engulfed the chat room with questions for the band. At 15 minute intervals the questions from the chat room were delivered to the band by moderator Alana DaCosta. The fans were then able to hear the band respond to each of their questions. As per Richard “Bassie” Daley, “The live stream was a success. We have never done anything like this before so we did not know what to expect. But we were excited about offering something new to our fans and we are happy that it was successful. So much so, that we are doing a re-broadcast.”

In addition, the band invited Dr. Perryman of the Jamaican Children’s Heart Fund Charity to share with the fans information about the charity that they have supported and continue to support since 2006.

A 501(c)(3) organization, the Jamaica Children’s Heart Fund (“JCHF”) is comprised of a pediatric cardiac surgical team, and an intensive care team from the Joe DiMaggio Children’s Hospital(JDCH), Hollywood, Florida, headed by Dr. Richard Perryman, Chairman-JCHF/Director Cardiothoracic Surgery JDCH, along with Dr. Gerald Lavandosky, Vice Chairman-JCHF/Pediatric Intensivist JDCH. JCHF has conducted pediatric cardiac surgical missions to Jamaica over the past twelve year: the recipients of this life saving surgery were as follows: 93 children under the heading of CHMA and 31 children to date under JCHF, totaling 124 recipients to date. Their mission, “to facilitate and address the urgency reflected in the increasing, rather than decreasing list of infants and children with congenital heart disease in Jamaica. By providing cost free pediatric open heart surgery to save the lives of these children” is a testament to their dedication.

In addition to raising funds throughout the year, Third World Band will host Third World’s end of year concert on December 27, 2010 in Kingston, Jamaica wherein proceeds from the concert will benefit the JCHF. During the broadcast, lead singer, Bunny Rugs, encouraged fans to make donations directly through the charity’s website, http://www.jamaicanchildrensheartfund.org. Later, Third World Band will facilitate a “donate now” button on their website for those who wish to make donations there.

The band rounded up their weekend run with a performance on Sunday, May 9, 2010 at the One Love Reggae Festival at The Cruzan Amphitheater in West Palm Beach Florida. Third World shared the stage with Glen Washington, Dobby Dobson, Tanya Stephens, Freddie McGregor and Tanto and Devonte. During their performance, the band brought Tessanne Chin on stage to perform single, “By My Side.”

What’s next? The Grammy-nominated band will re-broadcast their live rehearsal stream on Thursday, May 13, 2010 at 8:00 pm EST on www.ination.tv and performances at Jannus Landing in St. Petersburg Florida on May 30, 2010 and the 14t Annual St. Kitts Music Festival which takes place June 24-26, 2010.
