Jamaican artists need to understand that despite recession leading to a bumpy stock market, people still want to put their money in art. Abstract Expressionism is as much in demand as Contemporary Art topping sought after styles in recent art sales at Sotheby’s auction house. Only 3 of the 53 works offered for sale at that location recently, failed to sell. The auction totaled $190 million, above the $168 million high estimate.
