QUESTION: Dear Legal wiz,
If I execute a power of attorney in the United States of America for someone in Jamaica to handle my affairs is this document acceptable in Jamaica?
Shanoiya
RESPONSE: Dear Shanoiya,
Thank you for writing in. The United states and Jamaica are different jurisdictions, and have different requirements. For any power-of-attorney to be functional in Jamaica, it must be drafted, stamped and registered according to the requirements of the country.
