The most common mistake made in Jamaica as it relates to religion is the belief or misbelief that the many strains of Christianity are in themselves religion. Christianity and all the denominations within are classified however under the Christian religion. Believe it or not, this broad umbrella of Christianity includes Jehovah’s Witnesses, the Revivalist, and the obeah leaders.
How do you therefore define a religion. By its belief system.
When you can understand the elements of a belief systems such as the god or authoritative figure. Christianity believe in salvation through God, Jesus Christ for example. The cross is an important symbol of christianity.
