VIEW: Culture of crime in Jamaica

In the beginning there was slavery, then with much rebellion the former African leaders, many of them reluctantly shipped across to Jamaica who eventually rose to conquer and divide, moreso destroying their masters in order to be free.
Years later, but still in the beginning of Jamaica, a new morning’s dawn brings uprisals for a different purpose – not freedom this time, not Independence, but survival.

With new leaders, new purpose for crime evolved. The main one being – political seats and power. Well imagine then how grassroot criminals would begin any interview on crime with their links to politics.
Yet fast forward a few years later, dons assume even greater leadership ability and power even more than the politicians. After all, they more than the government heads protect, raise, feed numerous members of their community and more consistently, giving them hope for employment – albeit in the underground world. Other reasons for crime culture therefore extended to benefits such as opportunity to travel, and ‘education scholarships to children. The loophole was however where the children were really being trained as upcoming criminals with real developmental skills being of little relevance.

A video by British reporters try to put the crime culture of Jamaica in perspective.

This video’s a real deal on BOTH PNP and JLP, start to understanding the crime of culture in Jamaica – its origins, stages of development etc. – good tools to aid in combating CRIME of YAADIES home and abroad. On the other hand a sharp lesson for the next druglord to come.. ie if anyone can rise and fight the military powers to rise… So worldwide crime culture is ‘changing’, but let’s see if the problems the crime culture addressed will be corrected though as a plus! www.antheamcgibbon.com.

So we think of how for years, starting with the likes of Lester Lloyd Coke, Anthony Brown among others from both JLP and PNP business boomed via posses such as Shower and Gully posses abroad. The video below puts the start back to 1984/85 in the US. Another You Tube video report on Trench Town puts the first time dons were armed with guns and weapons even more than the police to the 1970s.This video details more on the ideology of donship.
PNP druglords apparently reigned in UK, while JLP reigned in USA having learnt and improved under the cartels by the Spanish and Italian. One wonders what could have hapened had the claimed Bin Ladin joined up with local crime lords. Now with newest donman Dudus donning US cells

As forementioned, Dudus is the latest crime lord to don the cells of US jail, being extradited in 2011. What of our crime culture, What does this mean for Jamaica. As much as crime is a part of our culture, and a new wave rises to sweep this all away, Jamaicans and those that hop the band wagon to ‘rid crime culture’ need to be realistic. How will they resolve the problems these Jamaican Robin Hoods sought and often were successful in addressing. Albeit through the underworld which is as the black of night to the white of the day dawning by so called law abiding citizens.
Take a gun from a fat criminal and his content family and replace it with warnings I think NOT! Words, prayers, good intentions dont pay the bills and by far cant feed the hungry and heal the sick and wounded.

MOVING FORWARD.
We must find a way to channel young people, youth to becoming productive to themselves, their homes, their communities and the wider Jamaica.

EDITOR’S NOTES:
Lester Lloyd Coke by US reporters Seems like PNP druglords, crime pins and politicians reigned in UK, while those of JLP reigned in USA! Just saying!
Interesting how EVERYBODY else but Jamaicans are doing detailed documentaries and becoming authorities on Jamaica’s culture of CRIME.. BUT JAMAICANS!!!
