Can Jamaican landlord lock out tenant legally?

DEAR LEGAL WIZ,
Can you please tell me if a Landlord can lock out a tenant without taking such a tenant to Court in Kingston, Jamaica?

My wife was illegally locked out by her landlord because she refused to pay him maintenance fee for a side of a house that she rented from him in Kingston, Jamaica. Can she go up to your office 3 South Avenue in Kingston and talk to one of your Legal experts there?

No he CANNOT, and she can take legal steps against him.. he can be charged and he can be locked up. ENSURE she makes a proper report and get a receipt from the police

THEN go to the RENT ASSESSMENT BOARD and lodge a complaint and they’ll be glad to assist.
