Traffic chaos in Jamaica

DEAR LEGAL WIZ,

Good day.
Let me preface this letter by saying Jamaica has a very poor quality faux democratic governmental system, with the legal/justice portion leading the way in this lack of accountability and responsiveness to every day citizens. I have experienced it several times firsthand. But this takes the cake.
Now, my closest neighbours and I have been dealing with abuse perpetuated by the government. They uneccessarily and most likely unthoughtfully rerouted thousands of cars through my small neightbourhood, in an ad hoc roundabout, the cause of maximum chaos, incessant intolerable noise for hours of the day, lives lost, property damage and generally negatively impacting the safety and movement of the residents. I KNOW nothing like this exists anywhere else in Jamaica. Possibly in the entire world. I know my property has lost several million in value. In the US, a citizen would be able to sue the govt using taking laws and have several other viable options relating to their councils. In the UK there is automatic compensation using Part 1 claims. I want to know if in Jamaica a random official can just sign some document immediately dooming your neighbourhood and your property without any sort of recourse, as what one lawyer already told me, as it is the ‘cost of urbanization’. Recourse beyond what I consider the dirty political aspect. As in recourse already embedded in the law, whether formal action to force officials to reassess the situation, or to sue the government for abusing our human rights, both physically and financially.

Regards
R.V.

Hoping by publishing your letter it helps.
