Port Royal Giddy House – It’s my Jamaica. There is one place that is a MUST visit if you are a Jamaican, want to be a Jamaican, or just hang with Jamaicans in Jamaica.
That place is the ‘Giddy House’ of Port Royal.
The Giddy House’s useful information
The Giddy House was built in 1888, not 1880 as is being promoted on some websites.
It was once a fully erected two storey building known as the Royal Artillery Store
The real name of this building is the Royal Artillery store because it was where gunpowder and weaponry was kept.
The Giddy House, formerly the Royal Artillery Store was built as a part of Fort Charles by the British Royal Navy in their efforts to curve crime in Port Royal, known then as the ‘wickedest city of the world.
