On boxing day, I went To Sting 2014, perhaps my most impacting memory is the unplanned drama at the END of the over 12-hour dancehall marathon.
12 hours of performances in music, song, dance, confirmed that Jamaicans are all walking lyricists, talents waiting to be honed into skills for use to do us all some good.
Then like the crackling sounds of immediate thunder, we all were caught up a different ‘raptor’ of Jamaican culture.. boof, baff, splat, we naw lef crime alone all if it merder wih arf …
The Raptor drink was indeed flavourful but provided way too much energy for idle minds!
So the lyrical clashes by night were physical clashes by day … you know it would be good if they adapted for a theme “Sticks and Stones may break my bones, but words will never harm me” and have performers swear on a book of rules before going on the stage.
Otherwise it will seem that the fights at the end of Sting annuals are an anticipated signature to seal the Sting.
