I paid for Formal Order, need refund as persons moved out

QUESTION: Dear Legal Wiz,
I relied on someone to file, collect and serve summons. When I got the order, the person charged me to collect the formal order for me. However the day they collected it and was on their way to me, the persons moved out of the property. I did not need the formal order any more.
Now they wont refund me

Thanks for writing in. I got to ask you if you are serious. If you got what you paid for services and they were rendered, how is it you are demanding a refund for work done.
